Oscar Deprease Hicks Sr., of Waco, Texas, born on June 14, 1932 in Asa, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and children, at age 86 on January 26, 2019 in Fremont, California. He was a retired carpenter and real estate investor. Oscar was the devoted husband of Shirley J. Hicks., father of Dyanne Headley, Oscar "Skip Hicks, Jr., Karen Hicks, and Sonia Boughton Rogers. He had nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Rannie L. Hicks of Fremont, CA, and sister, Erma Jean Yarbrough of Waco, Texas.
He was a greeter on the Hospitality Ministry team at South Bay Community Church in Fremont, CA until his health declined. Donations in Oscar's name to Alzheimers Services of the East Bay ( ASEB) are welcome and appreciated. His funeral service was held February 4, 2019 at South Bay Community Church in Fremont, CA. The funeral home was Chapel of the Chimes/Hayward, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, 510-471-3363.
