Oscar Perez, 54, of El Paso, Texas, passed away on January 22, 2024. He was born on May 2, 1969, in El Paso.
He is survived by his mother Norma Perez, his brothers Arturo and Eddie Perez, his wife Virginia, his children Vianey, Oscar (Andoni) and Catali, and his many nieces and nephews.
Oscar was a graduate of Andress High School and completed his BSN at UTEP. Oscar was passionate about his career in healthcare and dedicated his life to helping others.
Oscar worked many years as a psychiatric and dialysis nurse and was also a clinical instructor at the Bel-Air School of Health Professions. Most recently, he celebrated 20 years of employment with Centene Corporation, where he served as a Clinical Operations Manager.
Larger than life, humble, and charismatic, Oscar was highly competitive and had a natural talent for everything from basketball to beer-pong. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family; playing poker (shout out to JK2 gang!), working on his yard, and performing at karaoke nights.
During football season, you would often catch him supporting his Andress Eagles or attending the "Game of the Week" on Friday nights. He was a faithful supporter of Miner Basketball for the last 25 years.
Oscar, you will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved you. Until we see you again.
The Perez family would like to extend their gratitude to all of our friends and family for their prayers, love and support; your kindness and compassion carried us through this painful journey. To the staff at UMC and Southwest Transplant Alliance; words cannot express our gratitude and respect for the wonderful work that you do.
In memory of Oscar Perez, contributions can be made to Estrella del Paso (formerly DMRS), the Humane Society of El Paso, or the Frontera Land Alliance.
