Oscar G. Sison, a cherished resident of
Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 89 years old, just eight days shy of his 90th birthday.
Born in Manila, Philippines, on March 12, 1936, Oscar received his early education through high school at the prestigious University of Santo Tomas. A dedicated scholar, he earned three degrees: a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the Lyceum of the Philippines, followed by a Bachelor of Laws from Manuel Quezon University.
Oscar began his distinguished career in public service as a Director at the National Housing Authority of the Philippines. After relocating to the United States, he continued this path with the Housing Authority of Terre Haute, where he advanced to Director, before serving as Associate Director for the Indianapolis Housing Authority. In the mid-1980s, he embarked on a remarkable four-decade journey in real estate, specializing in commercial properties with Century 21 and later RE/MAX. Remarkably, he remained actively involved in managing significant commercial transactions until the very end of his life.
Following his mother and siblings, Oscar was the last of his immediate family to migrate to the United States. In the early 1970s, he brought his family of six to Terre Haute, where the Sisons became one of the pioneering Filipino families in the community. As the Filipino population grew over the decades, Oscar emerged as a true pillar-generously guiding multiple generations as their trusted real estate advisor, helping them purchase first homes and invest in thriving properties that built lasting roots.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Oscar found joy in life's simple pleasures. An avid golfer, he delighted in both playing and following major tournaments. He cherished family bowling leagues, fishing outings with his brothers at their lake just outside Terre Haute, and exploring history. He had a deep appreciation for Asian cuisine and, together with his beloved wife Lita, traveled extensively-visiting nearly every corner of the world, often alongside their close circle of friends.
Oscar was the devoted husband of Estelita (Lita) Sison. He is survived by his children Vangie and Kevin, Editha (Boots), Orlando and Pam, Oscar Jr. (Joey) and Catherine; his granddaughters Jordan, Carli, and Anna; his grandsons Joshua and Cisco; his great-granddaughter Isla; his sister Nelia (Baby); and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vicente and Illuminada Sison; his brothers Vicente Jr. (Tito) and Cesar; and his sister Elvira (Nene).
Visitation will be held at DeBaun Funeral Home, 85 E. Springhill Drive,
