Beloved husband of the late Cheryl Rogers Smith. Loving father of Cassie Falgoust (Ted), Michelle Smith (Gipson), Russell Smith (Erin), and the late Christopher Smith. Grandfather of Nathan Falgoust (Jessica), Haleigh Held (Johnny), Abbey Gonzalez (Ryan), Dylan Falgoust (Dusti), Samantha Oubre (Brad), Hunter Smith (Lily), Aiden Smith, Ryder Blanchard, and Connor Smith. Great-Grandfather of Collin, Evelyn and Julian Falgoust, Wes and Will Gonzalez, Meredith and Maci Kate Held and Adalyn and Ella Smith. Son of the late Oscar Smith and Florence Everett Smith. Brother of Lloyd Smith, Marshall Smith, Tom Smith, Eillen Smith, David Smith, the late Ted Smith, Emmie Pruitt, and BK Smith. Also survived by numerous, nieces nephews and cousins.
Oscar proudly retired from the US Coast Guard and then the Port of South Louisiana.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and memorial service on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Millet Guidry Funeral Home. Visitation from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and the Memorial Service at 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the New Orleans Bulldog Rescue in his name.
