Otar Henry Gotsch, Sr.

Haines City - On July 28, 2021, Otar Henry Gotsch, Sr. passed away at the age of 89. Henry was born in Haines City, FL, to Oscar and Helvig (Hartmark) Gotsch.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea in the early 1950s, and later graduated from the University of Florida. Henry married Loretta Chastain in 1960 and moved to Lake Hamilton where they raised three sons—Henry Jr., Louis, and John—and a daughter—Susan. His occupations included fertilizer salesman, service-station owner, and citrus grower. He retired in 2006 after a 37-year career as a USDA food-quality inspector. Henry was an outdoorsman whose interests included boating, family vacations, horses and weimaraners. He was an easy conversationalist with a quick wit.

Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; sister, Eleanor; and brother, Paul. He is survived by his four children, 11 grandchildren, and 10 nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held from 9 am to 11 am on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at the Oak Ridge Funeral Care at 1001 E Grace Avenue, Haines City, FL followed by a graveside service at 11:30 am at the nearby Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, FL. Flowers and donations may be sent to the funeral home.
