Mr. Otis Copeland, Jr., was born on October 5, 1933, to the union of Mr. Otis Copeland, Sr., and Mrs. Bessie Harvey Copeland in Griffin, Georgia. "O.T." as he was affectionately called by his family and friends received his formal education at Fairmont High School in Griffin, Georgia. He furthered his education at Griffin Technical College in Griffin, Georgia.

After high school, Otis enlisted in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1957. After returning home, he built his own successful concrete pouring company. He built his business from the ground up and operated for over 50 years. He employed his sons and many of his nephews, teaching them lifelong skills. Strong foundations were laid like his faith, and it has stood the test of time.

Otis accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and alongside his father, he helped build the Heavenly Way Baptist Church, which would become his lifelong spiritual home. His faith was the cornerstone of his life. He served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, until his health declined. His hands and heart are in every brick, his soul stirring songs and his prayers helped lay the foundation where his legacy will continue to live on.

Mr. Otis "O.T." Copeland, Jr., met the love of his life Ms. Mary Helen Cheeves, and was united in holy matrimony in August of 1958. Their union was blessed with 5 children.

In Otis' leisure time he enjoyed watching westerns, hunting, fishing, playing checkers, traveling, transporting his beloved grandchildren, but the thing he loved the most was spending time with his family and friends.

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, Mr. Otis "O.T." Copeland, Jr., name was called, and he answered and was set free from all sickness and pain. Rest now in peace and comfort, your journey has ended, battle fought, and victory won. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Mr. Otis Copeland, Sr., and Bessie Harvey Copeland, and his sister, Mrs. Henrietta Passmore.

Mr. Otis Copeland, Jr., leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Mrs. Mary Helen Copeland, who stood by his side through every season of his life for 67 years; their three daughters, Joyce Touchstone, Pansy Copeland, and Janice Hall, their two sons, Michael (Margaret) Copeland, and Stewart (Anita) Copeland, two sisters, Ruby Matthews and Thelma Brownlee, two brothers-in-law, Harry (Ada) Cheeves, and James Brownlee, he leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that will miss his beautiful and loving spirit.
