Otis Andre Guthrie passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in Abilene, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas.
Andre was born in Seattle, Washington, on June 30, 1964, to his father, Otis Guthrie, and his mother, Roberta Guthrie. He attended Cooper High School and graduated in 1982. Andre worked for 30 years in data entry, which showed his dedication to the job. His professional career also included his work as an electrical engineer. Beyond his professional life, Andre was defined by his adventurous spirit and his many cherished hobbies. He found great joy and freedom in motocross and riding motorcycles, pursuits that brought him endless excitement and peace. He also loved to play pool. His outgoing nature made him a friend to many, and he will be remembered for the light and laughter he brought into every room. He was a loving father, brother, and son. Andre's love extended to his family, who will deeply miss his warm presence.
He is survived by his children, Amanda Guthrie, Aaron Guthrie, and Hailey; his father, Otis Guthrie Sr.; his mother, Roberta Guthrie; his sister Tracey Davis and husband Leonard; his 2 grandsons; his nieces, Menyon Booker, Channing Booker; his nephew, Shanon Booker; his cousins, Kevin Williams, and Lenox Favors, and many great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his aunts, Louis Ritchie, Ann Williams; his cousin, Doris McNease.
