James Hill, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on December 25, 2025, in Abilene, Texas, at the age of 64.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Beltway Park Church South Campus, 4009 Beltway South, Abilene.
James was born on July 16, 1961, to Bobby Smith in Abilene, Texas. He was married to his loving wife, Marsha Hill, for 44 years. Together, they raised four children: Justin Hill (spouse Amanda), Joshua Hill, Allison Hill, and Rowley Hill. James was also a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Bailey, Gracie, Ethan, Wyatt.
James attended Cooper High School in Abilene before going on to serve in the Marine Corps. After his military service, James worked at the Taylor County Sheriff's Office, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring in 2011. He co-owned the Abilene Indoor Gun Range with lifelong friend Theron Durant.
Outside of his professional life, James enjoyed hobbies such as shooting, working on firearms, and beating his friends in shooting competitions.
James will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family, his service to his community, and his competitive spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
