Kathy Marie Guthrie, age 63, passed away in Akron, Ohio. She was born in Akron and remained deeply connected to the community throughout her life.
Kathy was a 1979 graduate of East High School in Akron. Following graduation, she dedicated over 20 years of service to Angle Life Insurance, where she was known for her reliability, warmth, and genuine care for others.
A lively and outgoing woman, Kathy embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. She loved music and dancing and, in her younger years, proudly participated in baton twirling as a majorette. She had a deep love for travel and the outdoors, especially camping and spending time outside. The beach held a special place in her heart, and some of her happiest moments were spent near the water.
Kathy was easy to talk to and naturally comforting, especially to women who sought her guidance. She had a way of offering thoughtful advice without judgment and made people feel heard and supported. Her beaming smile was constant, and her adventurous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. One of her most endearing traits was her habit of singing while she went about her day—whether doing the dishes or tackling everyday tasks. Music and a sense of silliness were always part of her world, and she brought joy and lightheartedness into even the simplest moments.
Family was at the center of Kathy’s life. She was very family-oriented and took great pride in being there for the people she loved. She is survived by her children, Michael, Alex, Anna, Doug, Jack, Brianna, Bianca, and Todd; and her grandchildren, Gabby, Doug II, Mackenzie L., McKenzie C, and Joesph L..
She was preceded in death by her parents, Janet Black and her father, and by her brothers.
Kathy lived her life guided by her Christian faith, which shaped her compassion and generosity. She took pride in helping anyone she could and will be remembered for her joyful spirit, loving heart, unwavering faith, and the warmth she brought into every room.
