Services for Otis M. Martin will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Morris Memorial Baptist Church; Rev. Steve Hawley will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Otis was born on March 5, 1937, in Vanoss, Oklahoma, and entered his heavenly home on November 7, 2025 at the age of 88. He was the son of Otis and Viola Martin, who, along with his three older sisters-Betty, Bobbie, and Mattie-and his younger brother, Jerry, raised him to work hard, love the Lord, and care deeply for others.
Otis truly embodied a strong work ethic. He became a "jack of all trades," and if there was ever something he couldn't do himself, he "knew a guy" who could. After a successful high school baseball career, Otis married the love of his life, Frances Jean Parry, on March 1, 1957. Together, they shared nearly 69 wonderful years, building a home firmly grounded in faith and love.
Over the years, Otis and Jean welcomed three beloved children-Timothy, Cindy, and Darren -who were his greatest pride and joy. Otis coached their sports teams, taught them the value of hard work, and, most importantly, showed them what it meant to live a life devoted to Jesus.
In 1980, their first grandchild, Brent, arrived, followed by granddaughters Ashlee and Alicia, and grandsons Adam and Dylan. Otis adored each o them. He spent countless hours watching them play, often digging "rivers" in the yard-only for him to fill them back in so they could start fresh on their next visit. He and Jean hosted slumber parties, lent out his t-shirts for nightgowns, went on an early morning donut run, and filled their lives with laughter, wisdom, and love. Above all, he wanted his grandchildren to know and love Jesus as he did. Otis and Jean were later blessed with nine great-grandchildren: Owen, Ethan, Caroline, Colson, Gracie, Glorie, Wyatt, Camden, and McKenna. His face would light up with joy every time they walked into the room.
He was so proud of his family and prayed that each generation would continue his legacy of faith and service to the Lord.
Throughout his life, Otis held many roles and careers. He worked for Southwestern Bell for 43 years, served 20 years in the Army National Guard, and even worked part-time as a carpet layer. After retiring, Otis and Jean purchased the old Mel's Meat and opened Martin's Meat & More in Latta. For nearly 25 years, their store became a beloved gathering place where friends and neighbors could enjoy a delicious lunch, good conversation, and a warm welcome. Otis used the business as a ministry-sharing Jesus' love and offering kindness to anyone in need.
He also operated the gas station at Oklahoma Sports Park for many years, spending most Saturdays at the races selling fuel and visiting with anyone who stopped by.
He was also a long-time member and Sunday school teacher of Morris Memorial Baptist Church
