Virginia Moreland passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, at her home. She was born April 25, 1945, in Sasakwa to Joseph Henry and Elsie Mae Walker Lindsey.
She worked in the gift shop at the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur and was a beloved member of the Chickasaw community. Virginia was a gifted artist. Her intricate designs and attention to detail reflected not only her artistic skill but also her deep respect for tradition and heritage. Each piece she created carried a sense of beauty, patience, and love that will be cherished by those fortunate enough to own her work. While working in the gift shop, Virginia provided a welcoming smile that brightened the day of every patron. Known for her outgoing nature, Virginia never knew a stranger.
One of her greatest joys was shopping and collecting purses, each one a reflection of her buoyant personality. She also had a deep and abiding love for all animals. Whether caring for her own beloved pets or feeding neighborhood strays, she gave her time and heart freely. Those who knew Virginia will remember her warm smile, her generous spirit, and the joy she found in every wagging tail or soft purr.
Her candid nature was one of the many things that made her so loved. She was known for her big heart, sharp wit, and her unforgettable honesty.
Virginia was also a devoted member of the New Hope Lighthouse Church in Stratford. She lived her faith every day and found strength in her church family and cherished the fellowship she built there. Her legacy will forever live on in the many lives she touched and the beautiful art she leaves behind.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Wilson; brother, Sonny Lindsey and wife Stacie; two sisters, Wanda Harjo, and Shirley Roberson; three grandchildren, Sammy Wilson and wife Tosha, Ashley Wilson, and Josh Wyche; three great grandchildren Zachary Wilson, Carter Wilson and Brian Wingard.
