Otis Matthews Obituary

Otis honorably served in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer, he served through the Tale of Vietnam and Desert Storm and Shield. Upon retirement from the military he worked at area factories. He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, taking care of his guns and being a survivalist. In his younger years he was a member of the Black Panthers. He loved his family, his grandson Manny was always there to take him on car rides to get ice cream, and always made sure to give him the best care.
Otis is survived by his sons, Kelby (Brenda) Matthews Sr. of Battle Creek, MI and Otis Jermaine Matthews of Kalamazoo, MI; grandchildren, Kelby (Jade) Matthews Jr., Keyshaun Matthews both of Battle Creek, Chantel Matthews of Kalamazoo and Kiera Matthews of Springport, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mary Matthews.
At this time, cremation has taken place and no funeral services are being held.
Interment will take place at the Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors.

So very sorry to learn that my old friend is gone. I remember Otis, Kelby and Mary from Ft. Campbell, KY. when we were with the 173rd Combat Engineers.
Both Otis and Mary were dear friends that I lost touch with until 2017, then lost touch with again.
