Otis Mayes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Click Funeral Home - Farragut Chapel on Dec. 19, 2025.
Otis Samuel Mayes, of Farragut, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Born in Knoxville, Tennessee on September 18, 1939, Otis was a man of faith and fellowship. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and later Ball Camp Baptist Church, where he cherished worship and community.
Otis never met a stranger. His warm smile and easy conversation made everyone feel like a friend. He had a lifelong love of golf and was fondly known as one of the original Fox Den Backroom Boys. His passion for hot rods was unmatched-he rarely missed a car show anywhere in the southeastern United States. These hobbies reflected his zest for life and his joy in sharing it with others.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than fifty years, Betty Mayes; his parents, Carl and Ruth Mayes; and brothers Alfred and Paul Mayes.
Otis is survived by his companion for the last six years, Elizabeth (Sis) Jenkins; son Sam Mayes (Misty); daughter Lisa Foley (Tom); and son David Mayes (Joanne) from a previous marriage; four grandchildren: Blake (Katie), Zachary (Natalie), Eli Mayes, and Haley Foley; three great-grandchildren: Noma, Isla, and Sofia Mayes; one sister, Sharon Perryman; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00–5:00 PM on Monday, December 22nd in the Farragut Chapel of Click Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 5:00 PM, officiated by his grandson, Blake Mayes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Tennessee Children's Hospital, where his great-granddaughter received exceptional care during a life-threatening illness (East Tennessee Children's Hospital Development Office – in honor of Otis Mayes, P.O. Box 15010, Knoxville, TN 37901-5010).
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and medical team at Life Care of Blount County for their compassionate care and support during Otis's stay.
Otis lived life with joy, faith, and friendship. His laughter, kindness, and love for family will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity-a life well-lived and well-loved. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Otis, please visit our floral store.
