Ova Amelia Poteete Gordon

Ova Amelia Poteete Gordon, 88, of Casa, Beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, departed from this earth Tuesday, September 13, 2005. She was born July 8, 1917, at Casa to Vaudie and Bertha Barnett Poteete. She was retired from the Casa Public Schools as a cook and was a devoted Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Gordon; her parents; two sisters, Marie Wells and Estelle Rainey; and one grandson, Cody Gordon. Survivors include four daughters, Irma Otto of Casa, Linda Thomas of Perry, Kathy Faulkner of Casa, and Sharon Davis of Perryville; three sons, Marion Gordon of Little Rock, Doyle "Doby" Gordon of Morrilton, and Alfred "Junior" Gordon of Casa; a sister, Mildred "Mickey" Murphy of Casa; two brothers, V. J. Poteete of Springdale and Leon Poteete of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. She was loved by all her family and will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2005, at the Casa Assembly of God with the Rev. Paul Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Casa Cemetery at Casa under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Tim Wells, Bobby Wayne Wells, Gary Murphy, Greg Murphy, Mike Murphy, Darrell Rainey, Travis Caldwell, and Kenneth Wells. Visitation will be at 6:30 - 8 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2005, at the funeral home.
