I met Owen at the Lou Walker Senior Center where we realized we shared several interests including running, health, photography, & martial arts. He immediately impressed me as a well-grounded, unpretentious, empathetic guy.
His insights were always on point & he had a way of putting folks at ease regardless of the personal issues they were experiencing. His wry humor always evoked a chuckle & lingering smile. Beneath this humble, gentle exterior, one could sense the tough spirit of a warrior/competitor, forged by years of adversity & challenge.
He was and will continue to be an ever-growing inspiration for me. I feel blessed to have known him if only for a few years, especially at the Dekalb County Senior Olympics. Extend my deepest condolences to his family & friends via my poem, "To Fill the Void" (currently pending review, will be posted Wednesday, 28 Jan 2026).

"To Fill the Void"
Our joy and strength is in the quest,
How well we toil before we rest.
Yes we will stumble.
Yes we will fall.
Yet we will rise above the rubble
Uplifted by a timeless Call.
So when our earthbound journey ends,
Then people gather, family and friends,
May they nourish the good that we sow.
May that effort help them grow...
To fill the void.
