Owen Sky Stupka, age 44, of Mesa, Arizona; formerly of Grove City and Butler PA, passed away on October 4, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer at Friendship Village Hospice Center, Mesa, AZ. Owen was born April 15, 1980 in Grove City. He graduated from Grove City High School, Class of 1988. Owen was a loving, cheerful and enthusiastic person. Owen loved writing, reading (especially Fantasy novels) and the live theater. From childhood, Owen loved board games, card games, role playing games and video games. He loved analyzing and introducing games that sparked camaraderie with his friends and family. Owen was a self-taught computer whiz. He was employed for several years at Bell's Comics & Cards in Grove City and Butler; Armstrong Cable Company in Butler; He also worked for AT&T and TeleNetwork in technical support and as a dispatcher for the City of Phoenix Fire Department..Owen served as Senior Test lead at Experis, a Microsoft subsidiary, developing Forza Motorsport. Owen worked as a Quality Assurance Analyst for Epic Games and Digital Dream Forge. His favorite and dream job was being Quality Assurance Engineer in developing and launching Legends of Runeterra for Riot Games. Owen also served as the moderation manager for Phoenix Comicon 2013-2015; Lead Henchman at North Carolina Comicon 2016 and Dr. Who Programming Event staff at Phoenix Fan Fusion. Owen was a loyal supporter and participant in NaNoWriMo and Restless, an Arts Anthology.
Owen is survived by his parents, Jack and Doris Stupka of Mercer; his wife, Mallory Mengler, Mesa, AZ; his brother, Jason Lee Stupka and his fiance Amanda Sims- Chuhra of Kittanning, and her children Gabriel and Sophia; His sister, Echo Domingues and her husband, Robb Mitchell, of Edgewater, CO; his niece, Colette Rae Henderson, of Natrona Heights and her partner, Mitch Ekas; his nephew; Gabriel Stupka of Saxonburg; his great niece, Harlee Musati and her father, Christopher Musati of Butler; his Howard Sinclair of Thailand; many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends; as well as his two beloved cats, Malfurion and Illidan.
There will be Celebration of Life for Owen Stupka on October 26th at 1 p.m. at the Heritage Presbyterian Church 2262 Rochester Rd,
Pittsburgh, PA 15237. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oakland TNR Coalition at https://www.oaklandtnrcoalition.org/donate ( a volunteer-run cat rescue program where he found their cats) or the Nora Crocker- J. Calvin McCoy Scholarship fund at SRHS Alumni Association, P.O. Box 674, Slippery Rock, PA 16057 (This is a scholarship started in 2001 in memory of Owen's great-grandmother and her son who was killed in World War II.)
