Palmetta Matuszek

November 7, 1934 – October 24, 2023

Palmetta Matuszek, age 88, passed away Oct. 24, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in Osceola.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola with Pastor Raleigh White officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Osceola Cemetery.

Palmetta was born Nov. 7, 1934, in Shelby, Nebraska, to Roy and Aurelia (Albers) Lyon. She spent most of her childhood in Shelby with brief periods in Columbus and Omaha. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1951. Palmetta married her first husband, Jack Tindall Sr., on Dec. 5, 1951, and to this union three children were born. She spent many years as a homemaker helping on the family farm northwest of Osceola and caring for her children. After their divorce, Palmetta attended Central Community College and was part of their first graduating class receiving her degree in accounting. Throughout the years, she held various jobs as a receptionist, office manager, and bookkeeper in the agriculture industry. Palmetta met Richard Matuszek and they were united in marriage Oct. 27, 2001.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three children: Jack (Bonnie) Tindall of Osceola, Pat (Sue) Tindall of Osceola, and Peggy (Chris) Caley of Silver Creek; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and her beloved cat, Morrie.

Palmetta was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Lyon and Aurelia and Bill Alcorn; her husband; and great-grandchildren. Jaydon Tindall, the twins, Dalton and Taylor Johnson, and Dean Beck.

Memorials are suggested to the Osceola Library or the Food Bank of Lincoln.
