Private Family Services for Pam (Schmeichel) Ames, age 69, of O'Neill will be Wednesday morning, July 10, 2024 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill. Pam loved spending time with family and friends, so there will be a Celebration of Life Gathering starting at 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at her home on 519 North 12th Street in O'Neill. Pam passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Avera Creighton Hospital in Creighton, Nebraska. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.
Pam was born on July 30, 1954 in O'Neill, Nebraska to Eugene and Inez (Clark) Schmeichel. She grew up in O'Neill and graduated from O'Neill High School in 1972. Pam married Jim McCart on June 3, 1971 in O'Neill and to this union three children were born, Mike, Mindy, and Jamie. They lived in Norfolk where they ran their own business, then moved to Battle Creek. In her early years Pam enjoyed going off and doing things with her friends, bowling and was always up for a good horror movie. They later divorced.
Pam met Dave Ames at Hy-Vee in Norfolk, NE, where they were both working at the time. They later married on March 31, 1993 in Yankton. To this union a son David Connor was born. Pam and Dave lived in Battle Creek, NE where they owned and operated the Good Ole Way Café for four years before moving to O'Neill in 1996. While in O'Neill Pam worked in the produce section at the Sac N Save Grocery Store and Super Foods. Pam and Dave then moved to Creighton, Ne where for the next six years owned and operated the Whip Café before retiring in 2018 and moving back to O'Neill.
Pam was truly a "People Person" and loved her time spent with family and friends. She was a very good cook, enjoyed watching Nebraska football and the fourth of July. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pam is survived by her husband of 31 years Dave Ames of O'Neill, NE; children and spouses, Mike (Misty) McCart of Spencer, NE, Mindy Harbert of Hoskins, NE, Jamie (Ben) Hupp of Rural Ewing, NE, McCabe (Amy) Ames of Norfolk, NE, Tyson (Tara) Ames of Winside, NE, Luke (Amanda) Ames of Loveland, CO, Murphy (Sara) Ames of Venice Beach, CA and David Connor Ames of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Caid, Asher and Malcolm McCart, Emily Harbert, Brody, Brianna and Blake Hupp, Payson, Lawson, and Jaxton Ames, Adeline Ames, Ashton, Reece, Emery, and Willow Ames, Ashton Ames; great granddaughter, Salem Peterson Hupp; brothers, Ron (Rianne) Schmeichel and family, Stan (Betty) Schmeichel and family, Jim (Connie) Schmeichel and family, Randy (Becky) Schmeichel and family and Jeff (Brenda) Schmeichel and family; brothers in law, Jim Larson and family, Keith Reynoldson and family, Delbert (Susie) Ames and family, Chuck (Sherrie) Ames and family, and Bill (Carol) Ames and family; sisters in law, Carol Lang and family, Barb (Ralph) Ticota and family and Julie (Tim) Riewer and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carolyn Larson and Cheryl Reynoldson; brothers in law, Dale and Dwayne Ames.
