Pamela "Pam" Sue Schilz passed away in her home in McCook, NE, surrounded by family, on March 12, 2025, at the age of 77.
Pam was born on May 29, 1947, in McCook, NE, to parents Gerald C. and Bettie L. (Hill) Gull. She graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1965. Pam then attended Kearney State and achieved her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Later in life, Pam also received her master’s degree in education.
Pam’s first assignment was for North Ward Elementary School in McCook, NE as a fourth-grade teacher. She retired after thirty years from North Ward. After a year of retirement, Pam missed teaching and returned to her passion for 4-5 years at the St. Pats Elementary School in McCook, NE.
On September 24, 1972, Pam married the love of her life Lonnie “Joe” Schilz at the St. Albans Episcopal Church. Together, they raised four boys, Jeromy Joe, Bobby Joe, Joshua Joe, and Zackary Joe. Pam and Joe shared a beautiful marriage for 52 years.
Pam spoiled the things she loved, such as her grandchildren, plants, and dogs. Pam could be found with a book or a crossword puzzle in her hand. She enjoyed the outdoors and lunch dates on Friday with her classmates. Pam was a member for over 70 years at the St. Albans Episcopal Church in McCook, NE. She served for many years as chairmen of the board for the Southwest Area Training Services (SWATS).
Pam is preceded in death by her father, Gerald Gull, infant daughter, daughter-in-law Dee Schilz, and brother-in-law Harvey Arnold.
Those left to celebrate Pam’s life are her loving husband, Joe Schilz of McCook, NE; mother, Bettie Gull; sons, Jeromy Joe Schilz of McCook, NE, Bobby Joe (Suree) Schilz of Milford, NE, Joshua Joe Schilz of McCook, NE, and Zackary Joe (Kaylee) Schilz of McCook, NE; brother, Charlie (Diana) Gull of McCook, NE; sisters, Jerri Lou Arnold of Orafino, NE and Toni (William) Gerver of McCook, NE; five grandchildren, Hannah, Noah Joe, Karley Joe, Ella Joe, and Elijah Joe; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Memorial contributions are suggested in Pam’s name to S.W.A.T.S, 606 E 12th St. McCook, NE 69001.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, in McCook, NE.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, in McCook, NE, with Terry McCorkle officiating.
