Pamela Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waite Funeral Home Medina on Feb. 11, 2026.
Pamela Smith passed away on February 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on March 20, 1949, and lived a life defined by devotion, warmth, and deep connection to those she loved most.

Pam was married to her devoted husband, Thomas Smith, for 54 wonderful years. Together they built a family that was the true center of Pam's world. She was a loving mother to her sons, Brian Smith (Brenda) and David Smith (Angie), and a proud grandmother to five cherished grandchildren: Abby, Jack, Katherine, Max, and Matthew, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Pam is also survived by her brother, Frank Banko (Sharlene), and her sister, Barb Kallberg (Karl, deceased), as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Charlotte Pipik; her father's, Stanley Banko and George Pipik.

Pam had a natural gift with children, she gravitated toward them, and they toward her. Her kindness, patience, and genuine interest made every child feel seen and special. Some of her grandchildren's fondest memories include story time at Barnes & Noble, complete with cookies and chocolate milk, simple moments that became lifelong treasures.

Family gatherings were where Pam truly shined. She was especially known for hosting legendary Halloween parties for her grandchildren, filling her home with laughter, costumes, and unforgettable memories. And if you ever called Pam, you knew there was no such thing as a five-minute conversation, she loved to talk, to connect, and to stay close to the people she cared about.

Pamela Smith will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of family, and the countless moments she made meaningful simply by being present. Her legacy lives on in the stories shared, the traditions passed down, and the love she gave so freely.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 1-4 pm at Waite Funeral Home – Medina, with a service at 4 pm. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery: 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, Ohio 44237. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association – www.alz.org. Messages of comfort and support may be sent to Pam's family at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
