Pamela Sue Thorpe, aged 67, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, in Mishawaka, Indiana. Born on July 27, 1957, in South Bend, Indiana, to parents Donald Stormoen and Edyth (Walton) Green, Pamela's life was one marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
In 1982, Pamela's heart found its match when she married her first husband, James Backus Jr., and together they embarked on life's journey, welcoming three sons - James "Jimmy" H. Backus III, Kevin Adam Backus, and Justin James Backus. Their union was a testament to enduring love until James Jr.'s passing. Pamela's heart was blessed a second time, joining in marriage with Gary Thorpe, together finding happiness and companionship in their golden years, until Gary's passing.
Pamela's legacy is continued through her cherished sons and their families, including her beloved grandchildren, Destiny (Dylan) Backus-Lynch, Tyler Backus, Sydni Backus, Mason Backus, and Carter Backus, and treasured great-grandchildren, August Backus, Daxlyn Backus Lopez, Eloise Lynch and Otto Lynch. Her love will forever be etched in their memories. Pamela also leaves behind her two fur babies, Bubbs and Luna, who she held very dear.
Pamela's siblings, Carol Yeskey, Brenda Stormoen-Tafelski, Charlotte Derickson, Dennis Stormoen Sr., and Charles Stormoen, remember her with fondness and heartfelt laughter. She was preceded in death by her siblings Bonnie Casper "Looney Tunes", Cheryl Benway and Robert Hudson, whom she now joins in eternal peace.
Pamela earned an associate degree. Pamela spent 2 years caring for her ailing mother, truly showing how kind and devoted to family she was.
A light in the lives of all who knew her, Pamela has left behind a beautiful tapestry of memories and values that will continue to inspire her family and everyone she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will remain an enduring presence guiding us all with her legacy of love.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th St, Mishawaka. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 PM in the Funeral Home.
