Panfilo Romeo Piccini

Panfilo Romeo Piccini ("Pan", "Raymond", "Ray", and "Ramon") passed away on March 3, 2022 at 93 years old. He was predeceased by his son Paul Romeo Piccini and survived by his wife Beverly, children Mark (Laurie), Kevin (Sara), Nina Franki (Bill) and grandchildren Marcus, Gina, and Nicole Marino (Joe), Nina, Ryan Alice Ryan (Matt), Sara Tone (Matt) and Morgan Freeman (David), plus five great grandchildren.
Panfilo was born in Brooklyn, NY and was active in theatre productions from an early age. At 16, he moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where he was a waiter and actively participated in community plays and musicals. He loved performing and being on stage in front of a crowd. This passion followed and sustained him throughout his life.
Pan returned to Brooklyn in 1945, where he was introduced to his future bride, Beverly. He studied and graduated from Hair Dressing school (with Sylvester Stallone's father!). Sometime afterward in 1951, he and Beverly were married at Blessed Sacrament Church in Rochester, NY. They were happily married for an amazing 71 years!!
Panfilo started his stylist career working at the exclusive BForman's Department Store Hair Salon and spent time honing his craft, and his charming gregarious personal flare for hair styling and client care. Eventually he broke away from Forman's and opened three full service salons in the Rochester area.
During the 1980's he began travelling throughout New York State and the greater New England area as a Redken educator providing class instruction, lectures, and classes on color and haircutting principles in the Redken Fashion. Many people still remember sitting in his chair while he performed his unique magic to make them look beautiful. After a long career as a stylist, Panfilo finally retired in 2004.
He was also very active in Rochester's local community theatre including Bishop Kearney, RAPA, Blackfriars, Shipping Dock, and Downstairs Cabaret. Not only was he a star performer on stage, he was also a star backstage, volunteering to do hair and make-up for multiple shows and casts. Pan even met his newest son-in-law Bill back in the day while doing his makeup for Jesus Christ Superstar at Bishop Kearney!
Panfilo was a passionate man who worked effortlessly to provide for his family. He had a charming but quirky personality coupled with tenacity and grit; traits that helped him navigate life and traits that he shared with his children.
He was a wonderful, colorful man with a big and gregarious personality. Always quick with a song or a joke, Pan was always a welcome addition to any group. A devoted New York Yankees fan he followed his team faithfully until the very end of his long life.
Please join his family from 4-6pm Friday March 25, 2022 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd. (corner of Culver Rd.)
Entombment will be held privately for his family at Riverside Cemetery.
