Paul Farina, 96 of Carteret passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023 at his home.
Paul was born in Caltabelotta, Italy and emigrated to the United States in 1954, settling in New York City. In 1958, Paul and his family moved to Elizabeth in 1958 before making his final move and calling Carteret home in 1973. He was employed as a laborer with HOD Carriers Local 394 and was a longtime member of the Ribera Club in Elizabeth. Paul was a member of the Carteret Seniors, enjoyed his time spent in Florida during cold winters, tending to his garden and fig trees at his home and loved dancing. He was a loving and cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother who will be remembered fondly.
Paul was predeceased by his loving wife in 2018, Cecilia Farina along with two siblings, Francesca and Guiliano. Surviving are two daughters, Antoinette Guarraci with her husband Joseph and Maria Falzone with her husband Anthony; grandchildren, Peter Guarraci, Joanne Ranahan with her husband Daniel, Paul Guarraci with his wife Alexis, Robert Guarraci with his wife Jessica, Diana Falzone and Anthony Falzone. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Jack, Benjamin, Owen and Gavin; sister, Liboria Cottone; his care taker for two and a half years, Rafaela along with many nieces and nephews.
**FUNERAL SERVICES HAVE BEEN AMENDED**
Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Carteret. Entombment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery Mausoleum in Linden.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Paul may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
