Walter Edward Sanders, age 80, went to be with the Lord on June 14, 2025 in his home in Mansfield, Texas. He was born on April 12, 1945 in Foreman, Arkansas to Douglas and Ethel Sanders and spent his childhood there.

Walter served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He married his wife Kathy in 1968, and they later had a single son, Tim. After his time in the Army, he was a pastor for 55 years, serving at Velasco Baptist Church (Freeport, TX) for 5 years, Beauxart Gardens Baptist Church (Nederland, TX) for 13 years, and Rehoboth Baptist Church (Arlington, TX) for 37 years.

During his time in the ministry, he was faithful to preach the Word and touched countless lives. He personified what a Pastor should be, supporting and encouraging not only the members in his church, but also their loved ones and others in the community. He spent countless hours visiting the sick, praying with people in their homes, and officiating weddings and funerals.

He is survived by his wife Kathy Sanders, son and daughter-in-law Tim and Heather Sanders, grandsons Luke and Jake Sanders, brothers Ralph, Noel, Bobby, and Ricky Sanders, sister Cindy Sanders, brothers-in-law Jon and Jim Hall, and many loved nephews, nieces, cousins, and other family members.
