Patricia Cates Bennett, known as Pat to her friends, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on November 12, 1938, to Arlington Burke Cates and Iva Livernios, Pat's life was a testament to her loving nature and unwavering faith. Pat dedicated her life to caring for others, a calling she fulfilled through her esteemed career as a Registered Nurse. Her professional journey was marked by her compassionate service at West End Baptist from 1960 to 1963, the Public Health Department in Birmingham from 1963 to 1965, and the Doctors Hospital in Tucker, GA from 1975 to 1988. She also served at Trinity Health Care in Memphis, TN from 1988 to 1990, Germantown Methodist Hospital from 1989 to 1991, and Medical Center East in Birmingham, AL from 1991 to 1996. Pat continued her vocation as a CNA supervisor at TN Home Health in 1996 and as an Assistant Director at Boynton Terrace in 2000, concluding her career at Union City Baptist Hospital from 2002 until her retirement in 2007. A devout Christian, Pat's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found joy in singing in the church choir as a young person and taught Sunday school throughout her entire life until her health failed, and remained a devoted member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where her gentle spirit and kind heart touched many lives. Pat's interests extended beyond her professional and spiritual life. She and her husband shared a love for RV camping, a pastime that brought them closer to nature and each other. Pat was the epitome of an easy-going person, always ensuring that her family gatherings were filled with love, laughter, and plenty of food. Her desire to serve others extended from her professional life as a nurse into every aspect of her personal life. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robbie Cates. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving family, including her brothers Ronald Cates and Ronnie Livernois; her daughter, Michelle Robbins (Tony); her son, Jon Gibbs (Sharon); her step-children, Joel Bennett, Mike Bennett, and Cindy Morton; her adored grandchildren, Kateland Gibbs, Kristen Gibbs, Jon Robbins, Erin Robbins, Whit Robbins; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Sadie and Myla Robbins.
