Graveside services for Pat Chandler, 98, of Portales, will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Sat., Sept. 27, 2025 in the Portales Cemetery with David Sanderson officiating. Colin Chandler, Lorin Chandler, Chad Chandler, Matthew Chandler, Matt Palmer and Jeremy Altman will serve as pallbearers.

Pansy Marie Chandler, known to virtually everyone as Pat, was born Mar. 22, 1927 in Goldthwaite, TX to the home of Lena Blann (Robinson) and Joe Fletcher Long, and passed from this life on the morning of Sept. 25, 2025 in Portales. Pat grew up in Carlsbad, NM where she graduated from high school in 1948. On Jan. 28, 1950 in Carlsbad, she was married to Garvin Chandler. Later that same year, he and Pat purchased the Art Shop where Garvin had been working. They later changed the name to Garvin's Jewelry Store. He was the jeweler and watch maker, and Pat served as his bookkeeper. In 1965, they moved their family to Roosevelt County, and began their farming operation. Again, Pat served as the bookkeeper until 2000 when they retired and moved into Portales. While living in Floyd and later Portales, she was a member of the Third and Kilgore Church of Christ. In 2006, they moved to Clovis, and she attended the 16th and Pile Church of Christ.

Pat had been a resident of Coronado Care Center since 2020. She used her time reading her Bible and solving word puzzles and crosswords as well as listening to her music on CD. Through the years, she had become a favorite resident at Coronado.

She is survived by her two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim and Judy Chandler of Floyd and Joe Chandler of Portales; six grandchildren, Colin (Tammy) Chandler, Chad (Shannon) Chandler, Lorin (Ponda) Chandler, Matthew (Catherine) Chandler, Lacy (Jeremy) Altman and Alisa (Matt) Palmer; 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Lora Chandler, a granddaughter, Anna Marie Chandler, and by her husband, Garvin, who died May 2, 2014 after more than 64 years of marriage.
