Pat Furlong, beloved wife, mother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on August 23, 1944, Pat filled the lives around her with warmth, joy, and especially laughter - leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Pat dedicated her life to education, inspiring generations of young minds as a grade school teacher in her beloved 1st and 2nd grades. She taught at several distinguished schools, including John Weldon Elementary and Becky David Elementary, where her vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm made learning a delightful experience for her students. Her influence extended beyond the classroom during her time working at the Deli and Seafood counter at Schnucks, where her friendly demeanor brightened the days of customers and colleagues alike.

A proud graduate of University City High School’s class of 1962, Pat continued her academic journey at Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in 1966, followed by a Master’s Degree from National University. Her passion for learning was matched only by her love for teaching, and her students were always at the center of her endeavors. Pat was also a Girl Scout leader; starting from Pixies all the way through Seniors, earning their gold awards. She was involved in numerous senior groups, including: Sts. Joachim and Ann, Ferguson, Maryland Heights, St. Charles Parks, Circle of Friends, Atonement Lutheran Group, and John Weldon Retirees.

Pat was known for her caring nature, vibrant personality, and an endearing quirky sense of humor that could light up any room. She was incredibly social; it seemed everyone knew her and loved her instantly. In addition to her dedication to teaching, Pat had many hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She held a special place in her heart for the St. Louis Cardinals and was an avid fan, embracing every moment spent at the stadium. Craft fairs captured her creativity, and she loved exploring traveling and museums, finding beauty and inspiration in each experience. Card games with family and friends were filled with laughter, and it was through her playful spirit that many cherished memories were made, even if she was known to bend the rules occasionally when it came to games.

Pat leaves behind a loving legacy, survived by her devoted husband, John; her cherished daughters, Heather (Kasim) Hasdemir and Alicia (Chris Miller) Furlong; and her son, David Furlong. Her family and friends, who adored her deeply, will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.

Preceding her in death were her beloved mother, Elizabeth Bennett; and her dear daughter-in-law, Abbey Furlong. Though they are no longer with us, the love and lessons Pat shared will continue to resonate with all who knew her.

Pat Furlong's life was a radiant tapestry woven with love, laughter, and profound connections. As we remember her, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was—a teacher, a friend, and a beacon of light in our lives. Her vibrant spirit will be missed dearly but will undoubtedly shine through the many lives she has touched.
