Patricia Lee Adkisson, 92, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
Patricia was a devout member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church for over 60 years.
She was born to Anna May Walker and Harry Irvin Harris on April 24, 1933 in Louisville, KY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Dennis L. Adkisson; daughters, Annetta Richard, Amy Absher and Teena Adkisson; daughter-in-law Linda Adkisson, and grandsons Thomas Richard and Nicholas Turner.
Left to cherish Patricia's memory are her children, Dennis Adkisson (Julie); Theresa Morton (Paul) and Donald Adkisson; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Patricia was an avid believer in the power of service, and a fierce advocate for children. Patricia and her husband Dennis became foster parents and welcomed 36 children into their home in over 13 years. Although years had passed since they had closed their home, Patricia recalled fondly the children that were loved by the family and how she held them close in prayer. In addition, Patricia faithfully served the American Red Cross for 22 years and was the recipient of special citations and commendations for extraordinary service. In 2001 she was designated a Millennium Maker by a Judge Executive for exceptional performance in her service to the citizens of Jefferson County. Those who knew Patricia knew that her main purpose in life was to embody a true servant in honor of Christ. Known as a prayer warrior by her loved ones, we are confident that her prayers have covered many of her family and friends throughout the years. She will truly be missed by many.
Her celebration of life Mass will be held Friday, June 27th at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 6105 So. 3rd. St. with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 26th from 4-8 p.m. at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Dr.
