Patricia “Pat” Ann (Kosier) Butts, age 89, of Mechanicsburg joined the legions of angels in Heaven on Sunday, August 6, 2023. Pat was born on Tuesday, January 30, 1934, in Lykens to the late Edwin Jonas Kosier Sr and Mary Jane (Speraw) Kosier. Pat was the widow of Charles Joseph Butts Sr, whom she married on March 17, 1956, and who died on November 26, 2003. In addition to her parents and husband, Pat is preceded in death by her brothers: Edwin Jonas Kosier Jr.; Robert Charles Kosier; Howard Whitmoyer Kosier; James Francis Kosier.
Pat’s survivors include her four children: Charles Joseph Butts Jr. and his wife, Robin, of Mechanicsburg; Kathi Ann Turner and her husband, Ronald, of Las Vegas, NV; Cynthia Lynn Beers and her husband, Robert, of Mechanicsburg; Dan Richard Butts of Kaneohe, HI; her five grandchildren: Kari Good and her husband, Jimmy; Patricia “Patti” Dark and her husband, Joe; Mary Jane Bamberger and her husband, Gilbert; Sarah Butts; Mark Butts; her two great-grandchildren: Emma and Tate Bamberger; and her sister: Mary “Kate” Kathryn Clark of Gilbert, AZ.
Pat was educated in a one-room schoolhouse in Grantville, and later graduated from Hershey High School. She then entered and graduated from the Polyclinic School of Nursing, class of 1955. Her first job was with the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Martinsburg West Virginia, where she would meet the love of her life, Charlie Butts. On March 17, 1956, they were united in marriage, in the vestibule of a Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, Maryland. Those attending were the loving couple, the pastor and his wife. What a start to their life together. Soon, Kathi, Chuck, Cindy and Dan joined Pat and Charlie and to make their family complete. Pat cherished all of the camping trips to many different beaches, vacations to Florida and Colorado; family reunions in Grantville and the many adventure in the backyard on Beard Road. Pat touched many people during her lifetime and had many lifelong nursing friends, neighborhood walking buddies, assisted living nurse’s aide friends; that are too many to name.
