Patricia Ann Jackson Smith, a vibrant soul, passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 86. She left this world surrounded by her beloved family, whose love and devotion were the cornerstones of her remarkable life.
Born on July 24, 1939, Patricia's spirit shone brightly from an early age. She was proud of her roots and carried the values instilled in her by her parents, George Weldon Jackson and Onie Marie Brooks. As a spirited individual, Patricia always embraced her wild side and affectionately considered herself something of a rebel. This adventurous streak stayed with her throughout her life, contrasting beautifully with her profound dedication to family.
Patricia enjoyed working until the age of 70—a testament to her unwavering work ethic and passion. Her career provided her with fulfillment and a sense of purpose that she treasured deeply. Yet, alongside her professional accomplishments, it was her role as a mother and grandmother that brought her the greatest joy. She often stated, "I wish happiness for my children and grandchildren," a mantra that spoke volumes of her selflessness and boundless love.
Her family, which included her son Garland Michael Smith (Tiffany), her daughter Angela Yow, and her cherished grandchildren—Allison Sockwell, James Yow, Kirsten Smith (Cody), Caitlyn Clagett (Ricky), and Gavin Smith—held a special place in her heart. Patricia also enjoyed her role as a great-grandmother to Oaklynn Clagett and Luca Belton, indulging in every opportunity to share her wisdom and warmth. Her partner, Doyle Jones, was a significant part of her life, providing love and companionship that enriched their years together. Patricia embraced her nieces, nephews, and cousins with a motherly affection that formed lifelong bonds and countless cherished moments.
In addition to her full and rewarding life, Patricia had a deep love for the simple pleasures. She found joy in reading, entertaining her friends and family, shopping, and basking in the sun at the beach—each experience cherished for the memories it created. Her infectious enthusiasm for life inspired all those who knew her, and her laughter echoed in the hearts of many.
Patricia is preceded in death by her father George Weldon Jackson, mother Onie Marie Brooks, brother James Gee, sister Phyllis Tate, and her infant brother Sterling Gee Jr. Although they have departed, their legacy remains alive through her vibrant spirit and the love she cultivated.
