Patricia Banfi (nee Duwell) passed on Monday, September 9, 2024, after a beautiful life and 5 years battling breast cancer. Born and raised in Johnsburg, WI, Patty resided in cities across Southern WI & Northern IL until finally settling in Schaumburg for the past 30 years. Over those years Patty cared for children in her home, sharing her great love and passion for early childhood education with many families. She displayed her green thumb, a tribute to her late mother, when tending to her gardens - hostas in particular. Patty was a talented seamstress who, over the years, altered everything from pants to wedding gowns for her family & friends. Known for her superb baking, Patty could always be counted on to provide her signature brownies or pink cookies to any event. As a devoted member of her local parish, Patty sang in the St. Matthews Choir for nearly 30 years with many of her dearest friends. Most of all Patty was a beloved mother and treasured friend to her daughter, Sarah.
Patty is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Glenn Banfi, and cherished daughter, Sarah Krist; her siblings: Dan (Winnette), Mike, Mark, Carrie (Steve Simons), Phil (Karen), Bill, Lucy (Chris Hantzsch), David (Judi) and Mary (Joe Zgonc); her brothers and sisters-in-law Lee (Joyce), Dale (Cindy) and Lynn Banfi; David (Paige) & Jim (Cheryl), and mother-in-law Rita Krist. Patty was a loving Aunty to 24 nieces and nephews & 13 grand nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Doris (nee Thome) Duwell, her first husband, Robert, and father-in-law Joseph Krist; her dear friends Therese Kotowski & Mark Wolf, and in-laws Carl Banfi, Pat Brda and nephew Justin Banfi.
