On Friday, August 5, 2022 our beloved Patricia A. Bowens, wife of David S. Bowens, received her eternal rest. Patricia was born in Newport News, VA on April 15, 1947 to John Milton Claud and Helen Beatrice Marshall. Patricia had 1 sister and 3 brothers, in order from oldest to youngest, Milton Claud, Pernell Claud, John Claud, and Mary Dee Griffin-Gattling.
Patricia was affectionately known as "Pat." She was educated in the Newport News Public School System, where she graduated from Carver High School in 1966. Patricia then acquired an Associates in Secretary of Science from Hampton Institute in 1968. Patricia held various positions as Real Estate Secretary for Walker Real Estate and Insurance, a Teacher for Fox Hill Private school, a Nurse's Aide at Coliseum Nursing Home and Special Needs Bus Aide for Newport News Public School, where she retired after 18 years of service. Patricia was also an Usher at her church home, Freedom Life.
Patricia Bowens was truly a gift from God. Her smile and personality would light up any and every room she stepped into. Her laughter and fun loving spirit was contagious. She was truly an amazing and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Patricia was overall a true image of what it looks like to be selfless and she was always giving to everyone she came into contact with. She was an amazing cook, a social butterfly, who loved to decorate for every event or season and loved her stories (aka soap operas). She loved to dance and cut up at every opportunity. She was a brilliant and consistent beacon of life for our family.
Patricia was preceded in death by her father, John Milton Claud; and mother, Helen Beatrice Marshall; grandmother, Haddie Claud; brothers, Pernell Claud and John Claud; grandchild, Aaron M. Hartney.
She leaves to cherish her memories with childhood sweetheart and husband, David S. Bowens; sons, Timothy T. Bowens and Marcus A. Bowens; daughters-in-law, Rhis R. Bowens and Christina M. Bowens; grandchildren, Anthony S. Hartney, Ian P. Hartney, Timothy T. McEachern, Wade G. Hartney, Devyn A. Krupkowski, Rikki M. Hartney, Isaiah W. Tolliver, Elijah R. Bowens, Dallis C. Alexander, Ramiyah A. Price, Triniti N. Bowens, Xavier A. Bowens and Iylen J. Armstead; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all of us who knew and loved her.
Viewing will be held Friday, August 12, 2022 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Freedom Life Church, 2200 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, Va. The Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.

David and Family. I'm still in shock upon learning of the transition of Pat. She was very special in my life and will always be remembered that way. My prayer for you and the family is that you all will be comforted by
God's awesome power of peace and tranquility in this very difficult time.
