Richard Joseph Booker, 72, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born June 11, 1953 in Summit, New Jersey, Richard was the son of the late John Henry and Jane Samuel Booker.

Richard was a graduate of Susquehanna Township High School and Hampton University.

Sports were a lifelong love of Richard, who played baseball throughout high school and college, later dedicating decades to being a coach and umpire for the PIAA. His love for baseball was shared freely with his friends and family, inviting them along as he succeeded in his mission to visit every Major League baseball stadium, although he definitely found a favorite team in the New York Yankees. Richard also enjoyed football and was an Eagles fan, although he had a soft spot for the Baltimore Ravens, his longtime friend, Tom's, favorite team.

More than anything, Richard was dedicated to his family, which was his top priority. He loved his grandchildren, often chauffeuring them wherever they needed to go, whether it be school, sports, or any number of other activities. Richard was practical, appreciating both giving and receiving simple gifts, whether it be a warm pair of socks or more ice scrapers and deicer than you could know what to do with.

Richard is missed by his wife of 48 years, Alice, of Harrisburg; his son, Stephen (Molly) Booker, of Hummelstown; his daughters, Leah and Katie Booker, both of Harrisburg; his grandchildren, Joseph, Allison, Collette, Jackson, and Téa; and by his siblings, John Booker, of Harrisburg; Janette Johnson, of Richmond, VA; and Linda Moore of Bucks County. In addition, he will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends in the community.

A private memorial will be held by the family.
