Patricia "Pat" Chavez

Patricia Ann "Pat" Chavez, age 81, of Amherst, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Amherst Manor Nursing Facility in Amherst, Ohio.
She was born August 16, 1944 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, moving to Lorain, Ohio at a very young age. Pat attended Lorain High School where she began her "vocation" as a cheerleader, which continued through the rest of her life, graduating in 1962.
Pat lived a life of deep purpose and compassion, working tirelessly to support and uplift those in her community. She found her greatest joy in offering comfort and guidance to others and her legacy is found in the countless lives she touched with her kindness and warm smile. She had the uncanny ability to find the good in every person and situation, carrying out through her employment at the Lorain court system, working for the judges. Pat was most proud of her devotion to God, her faith, many years of sobriety, and her cherished church family at the River Church in Amherst.
She is survived by her loving son, David (Antionette) Chavez; brother, Michael (Judy) Zazvrskey, many loving family members and numerous lifelong friends whom she felt were family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mildred Zazvrskey as well as Ignacio Chavez Jr.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. The River Church, 210 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Pastor Rich Henry will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
