Patricia Allene Luck Covington, age 85, passed away April 8, 2025 in Robstown, Texas after a five year battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Houston, Texas to George Edmund and Allene Josephine Luck and was raised in Ft. Worth Texas. She was a 1958 graduate of Paschal High School and attended the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority.
She was predeceased by her parents and brother, George Luck Jr., and her husband of 65 years, Jim Covington. She is survived by her children Kimberly Covington Clayton (Paul), James Richard “Rick” Covington, and Karen Covington-Yow (Mike), her grandchildren Matthew Clayton (Kelly) and Travis Clayton(fiancé Anna Kingsley), and great- granddaughter Caroline Anne Clayton, who she was blessed to be able to meet at Christmas.
Pat spent most of her married life as a homemaker, following her husband as he was transferred to Houston, Dallas, El Paso, Denver, Greensboro, and Plano, before retiring to Corpus Christi in 1987. She never missed a choir concert, play, or athletic event of her children and later grandchildren. She proudly decorated her home, yard, and everything around her for each holiday, and had seasonally thematic outfits and jewelry for every occasion. She enjoyed the theater and music, especially the big bands. On her 80th birthday, she travelled to New York City with her daughter Kim and at her request, spent the entire trip attending Broadway musicals, her favorite of which was Hamilton. She was a 30 year volunteer at Driscoll Children's Hospital, where she was known as the Cookie Lady, making and selling cookies in the snack shop. She never met a stranger, and found a second family in the children and volunteers at Driscoll.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Driscoll Children's Hospital in memory of Patricia Covington. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Visiting Angels, Brookdale Trinity Towers, and Robstown Nursing and Rehabilitation for caring for her in her final months.
