Patricia Ann "Patti" Eastman

Patti was born on April 29, 1951 to George W. and Hildegard C. Eastman (Friedrich) in Omaha, Nebraska, their fourth child. When Patti was about 3 years old, the family relocated to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1969. After high school, Patti lived with her Aunt Myrt and Uncle Ken for a year in Jackson, Minnesota to attend a vocational technical ed college for an associate's degree for secretarial skills. She returned to Prairie du Chien to work in a bank for a couple years before moving to Madison where she worked in a number of businesses doing clerical work, including banks, Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce, Wisconsin Dept of Corrections, and an after- school center. When Patti moved to Madison, she met and dated John Morgan. They were married for about 5 years before they divorced. John had two children from a previous marriage that Patti enjoyed having visit in the summers and doting on them while she was married to John.

Patti was an outgoing, fun, and lively person, who people loved to be around. She enjoyed meeting new people and often was the life of a party. She played in women's softball and basketball leagues in Prairie du Chien before Title IX was passed. Patti came from a large family and they held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed family gatherings and doing wacky things to make the family laugh and have special memories of her. One special memory was returning from a Hawaii vacation with a stop to see her eldest brother, George and his family in Seattle. Patti decided it would be a great laugh if she put on a coconut bra and grass skirt she had bought, wear those as she got off the plane to greet George. All the people on the plane had a good laugh as did George. It was a classic Patti antic. Patti also loved animals, especially cats. For many years she had several pet cats to keep her company. The one good laugh of the family is that Patti would always mix-up identifying cows and horses. In her mind, she'd say cows were horses, horses were cows. She was teased endlessly about it. In 1997 Patti met Omar Mohamud at a West Towne Mall bus stop. Omar became her partner for almost 28 years.

In the past few years Patti started having health issues after a stroke in 2021. Omar became her caregiver. In the past couple years, she began having heart issues. In late September, Patti was admitted to the hospital with sepsis. With her weak heart, the serious infection caused two major heart attacks that caused her passing on October 10, 2025.

Patti was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George, John, nephew Brady, nieces Tori and Melissa (aka Missy). She is survived by her longtime partner, Omar and siblings Ken aka Paco (Linda), Kathy (Ken), Mike (Sharon), Leonard aka Oscar (Lori), Don (Deb), and sisters-in-law Nancy and Anna. She is further survived by her nieces and nephews Tatjana, Sascha (Azusa), George Jr, John Jr, Jeanne, Jeff, Jeremy (Sheila), Josh, Shelley (Dan), Jason (Rose), Christine (Steve), Kevin (Kaleena), Erin (Matt), Elyse (Tyler), Emily (Josh), Aarica (Trent), Megan (Richard), Kyle (Jaime), Derrick (Sarah), Bridget (Bob), Daniel (Marc), along with many grand -nieces and nephews, and many cousins from the Friedrich side of the family.

Though she was not a Muslim, Patti was buried in a private Muslim burial ceremony, per the wishes of her partner Omar, on October 13, 2025 at Highland Memory Gardens in Madison, Wisconsin.

The family will be having a celebration of Patti's life in a memorial Mass in her hometown of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin at St Gabriel's Catholic Church, 506 N. Beaumont St, on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 12:00 pm, noon. There will be a visitation at the church from 10:30 am until noon prior to Mass.

Anyone who wishes to remember Patti with a monetary donation is asked to donate in her name to the American Heart Association, St Gabriel's Catholic Church (aka Holy Family Parish) in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, or the Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
