Patricia Ann Evans, 66, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2023 in Texarkana, Texas after a hard fought battle of extended illness. Pat was born on June 6, 1957 in Midland, Texas. Her family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico when she was in the 5th grade. There, she met Diane (Triplett) Henry and Barbara (Henry) Lewis and created a friendship bond that would ultimately last a lifetime.
On January 29, 1977 she married Archie Evans, the absolute love of her life, sharing nearly 45 years of marriage until his passing in 2022. Together, they shared a love for community, family and helping others in need. Some of her favorite memories included the annual computer give away during Christmas time, preparing cornbread dressing and baking desserts during the holidays, and traveling to endless games to support her grandchildren.
She worked for Hobbs Public Schools at Jefferson Elementary for over 30 years until her retirement in 2012. She absolutely loved her students and kept in touch with many of them through their highschool graduation and beyond. Ashley and Valerie were two of her favorite office helpers and she loved them dearly.
Another favorite part of Pat’s life included her college kids that attended NMJC and USW. Understanding the need for family while away at college, Archie and Pat “adopted” several young men and women; offering home cooked meals, advice, support, love and a second family to help them during this often challenging time. The bonds she made with these young people stayed with her for the rest of her life and she truly appreciated their friendship.
She was a member of Scharbauer Street Church of Christ in Hobbs, NM serving in several capacities until she moved to Texarkana, TX where she became an active member of the Atlanta Street Church of Christ until her passing. Most Sundays were filled with a smile and requests to share in a “two-handed” hug with everyone she greeted.
Pat was preceded in death by both parents; Petronelia (Hernandez) Vine, Joe Vine, sister; Juanita Hernandez, brother, Frankie Joe Vine, daughter; Audra Evans, and husband; Archie Evans.
Left to cherish her memory are sons; Anthony (Jennifer) Evans of Everett, WA and Chad Evans of Midland,TX, daughter; Allison (Dahlon) Lee of Texarkana, TX; sister; Thelma (Eduardo) Navarro of Wichita Falls, TX; grandchildren; Deja Evans of Odessa, TX, DeBryce (Lizette) Evans of Hobbs, NM, DaAndrus Evans of Hobbs, NM, Justice Gaston of Abilene, TX, Alyssa (Brandon) Ferguson of Abilene, TX, Daniel Lee and Kyndal Lee of Texarkana, TX, bonus daughters Valerie Rodriguez of Hobbs, NM and Ashley Mosley of Athens, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
