In Loving Memory of Patricia Louise Paquette Funston
Patricia Louise Paquette Funston, 91, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on November 8, 1933, in Washington D.C., she was the cherished daughter of Cornelius Paquette and Genevieve Larkin Paquette (both deceased).
On February 2, 1957, Patricia married the love of her life, Lt. Col. Neal Lloyd Funston. Together, they shared 68 years of devotion and companionship. As an active and dedicated military wife, Patricia traveled the world with Neal, raising a beautiful family. Her love, nurturing spirit, and unwavering dedication touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Neal; their six children and their spouses: Michael Funston (April), Kevin Funston (Michelle), Tracy Swanson (Glenn), Scott Funston, Tim Funston (Monique), Kerry Funston, and Charlotte Funston (daughter in law); along with 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Patricia's greatest joy was being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, roles she embraced with grace and joy. Her legacy of love, faith, and dedication to her family will live on forever in their hearts.
A lifelong, devout Roman Catholic, Patricia was an active member of the Catholic communities wherever she lived. She found great fulfillment in serving her community and living her faith. Her deep devotion to the Lord and her church family were evident in every aspect of her life.
Patricia's hobbies reflected her vibrant and multifaceted personality. She was an expert herb gardener, a talented cook, an avid traveler, and a skilled craftsperson. She also embraced physical activity, finding peace in yoga and water aerobics. Patricia's zest for life, her continual pursuit of learning, and her positive energy were an inspiration to all who knew her.
She shared a special bond of faith and love with her beloved brother, Father Neil Paquette, who predeceased her.
A funeral mass to celebrate Patricia's eternal life will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5125 S Apopka Vineland Rd, Orlando, FL 32819.
A viewing will be held the evening before, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 PM at DeGusipe Funeral Home West Orange Chapel, 1400 Matthew Paris Blvd, Ocoee, FL 34761.
Patricia will be laid to rest at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 U.S. Highway 1, Mims, FL 32754 on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 9:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Patricia's memory to a charity of your choice.
Patricia will forever be remembered for her love, kindness, and unwavering faith. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide her family, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in peace.
