It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Dolan Greene, who left this world on November 14, 2025, at the age of 89, after a lengthy illness. Patricia was surrounded by the love of her family throughout her journey. She is survived by her loving children: Susan (Greene) and Frank DiBello, Judith Greene, Sean Greene, Lisabeth Greene, and her beloved grandchildren, Megan and Lauren DiBello. She was predeceased by her devoted daughter, Jane S. Greene. Patricia is also survived by her Colorado nieces and nephews.
Patricia did not have an easy early life. Her mother, Katie Dolan, passed away when she was 11 years old. Patricia was lovingly raised by her sister Renee and her newlywed husband John Mahoney. Losing her mother so early engendered a sensitivity that stayed with Patricia throughout her life.
As her children grew, Patricia pursued the education that she longed for as a young woman. She pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Marymount Manhattan College in New York and a Master of Social Work from Columbia University.
Patricia loved reading, plants and watching TV with the family. Patricia was an avid reader of mystery books and was particularly fond of the cozy. She started a family book club so that her family could have fun discussions and spend time together. Patricia also loved her plants, especially the orchids, of which she had many in all different sizes. The mini orchid was a personal favorite. Lastly, Patricia loved watching Blue Bloods and Murder She Wrote on TV with her family.
Patricia was, above all else, a kind person who was willing to help another if there was a need. She was fiercely loyal. Patricia loved her children and grandchildren immensely and always fought for the best for her family. She would often share a kind word or an insightful perspective with those close to her.
When Patricia first moved to Floral Park, she was involved in the community. She coached the CYO track program for young girls. She was also a member of both the Mercy League and the Rosary Altar Society.
Patricia was dedicated to her faith throughout her life. In her later years as a homebound senior, Patricia watched the St. Agnes (Rockville Center) mass daily on the Catholic Faith Network and The Passionists Sunday Mass on Channel 10. Our Lady of Victory Church was an integral part of Patricia's life, as she was both on the receiving and giving end of help. She donated food to the Outreach Program. On the receiving side, Patricia had weekly visits from the Deacon for communion and prayer, was given prayer shawls when needed, and received small gifts from the Mercy Workers during the holidays.
Patricia will be greatly missed by her children who were her legacy. Rest in peace, Mom.
