Carolyn E. Pannhorst

July 6, 1934 – November 10, 2025

Carolyn died at Parker Jewish Institute, New Hyde Park, NY on November 10, 2025

after a long and courageous battle, following a stroke in 2018.

She was born in Astoria, the daughter of Frederick and Carolina Cousin and

raised in Bellerose. Carolyn graduated from Jamaica High School and immediately

began her career as a typist for the Sperry Rand Corporation, ultimately becoming

supervisor of her department.

Carolyn was a Sunday School Teacher and Choir member at The House of Hope Presbyterian

Church in Bellerose. In 1975, she and her husband Charlie were co-founders of the Queens

Village/Hollis/Bellerose Volunteer Ambulance Corp, an organization that continues to serve

the community to this day. She went to night classes and became a certified Emergency

Medical Technician, qualifying her to respond to those in need of medical aid. She took great

pride in this accomplishment.

After retirement, she and her Mom moved to New Port Richey, Florida so that they could enjoy the

mild weather. She cherished her many years there, along with other family members and her

wonderful companion Ben Kincer. During that time, she continued her charitable spirit by

volunteering at a local hospital.

Carolyn enjoyed music, politics and movie star gossip, but mostly she enjoyed hosting family

holidays and being around the people she loved. Above any professional or personal achievements,

Carolyn can best be described as a caring, loving person, one who greeted all with a smile and kind

words. As a mother to her two sons, Scott and Bruce, she was selfless in her undying love and support.

They were her pride and joy.

Carolyn is survived by her son Bruce, (Lana), her grandson Graham, her sister-in-law Jean and her many

cherished nieces and nephews. She will be terribly missed by all.
