Mrs. Patricia Ailene Howell Burnette, age 82, known affectionately throughout her life by those who knew and loved her as 'Pat,' passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Pat was born on Friday, July 2, 1943, in Dalton, Georgia, to the late Mr. Herschel Howell and the late Mrs. Ethel Huskey Howell.
Pat grew up in Dalton, Georgia, and graduated from Dalton High School. She married Doug and gave birth to Arlene and Andy. She shared a modest and humble life with Doug, married for over 65 years. "As a witness, I know my Momma loved and adored my Daddy!"
Pat was a stay-at-home mom until Arlene and Andy started school. She then began her career with Queen Carpets and retired after 33 years with the company. She enjoyed sharing her time and love with her five grandchildren and was so proud to witness the lives of her great-grandchildren. She was and always will be known as 'Nanny.' Although her life was hampered by illness in her later years, her love and dedication to Doug, her kids, her grandkids, and her great grandkids never wavered. We will forever miss her love and calm that she brought to us all!
Pat's family would like to extend special thanks to Michelle Burnette, Tiffany Smith, Kym Grahn, and Jess Wheat for their love and care for Pat during this difficult time.
In addition to her parents, Herschel and Ethel, Pat is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Howell, as well as her sisters, Brenda Locke, Shelba Kivitz, Gail Harris, and Betty Owens.
Pat is survived by her loving husband of over 65 years, James Douglas 'Doug' Burnette, as well as her loving children, Arlene (Christopher, dec.) Cochran and Andy (Michelle) Burnette.
Pat is further survived by her grandchildren, Magan Green, Adam Burnette, Ashli (Cory) Hansird, Morgan (Kyle) Hudson, and Sara (Conner) Patterson. She is also survived by her six great-grandchildren, Lila Ray, Maddison, Marleigh, Molleigh, Colsen James, and Charlie Jo.
Pat is also survived by her two brothers, Mike (Calita) Howell and Wade (Richard) Howell.
Funeral services to honor and celebrate Pat's life will be conducted on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Jenkins officiating the service. Pat will be laid to rest following the service in the Fauscette Family Cemetery. Her family has asked Ron Burnette, Scott Burnette, Cory Hansird, Conner Patterson, Kyle Hudson, and Billy Fauscette to serve as pallbearers for Pat.
Pat's family will receive friends for visitation at Love Funeral Home on the evening of Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
