Patricia Kay Hughes, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left this world on December 2, 2025, in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born on August 12, 1955 in Bruce, MS to Maurice and Ruth Cowsert.
Patricia was a graduate of Bruce High School, Class of 1973, and was a cherished member of the Pittsboro Pentecostal Church. Throughout her life, she embraced her role as a devoted homemaker, nurturing her family with comfort and kindness. Her warm spirit thrived in the kitchen, where she was known for her delightful cooking, particularly her beloved blueberry muffins. She found joy in the simple pleasures of reading, gardening, and tending to her beautiful flowers, which reflected her vibrant personality.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Donley Royce "Roy" Hughes of Bruce, MS, her daughters, Steffany "Scott" Cannon of Vardaman, MS and Crystal (B.J.) Lepard of Lena, MS. She also leaves behind her sons, Jason (Courtnee) Austin of McCarley, MS and Joshua (Megan) Hughes of Flowood, MS, and her siblings Becky Joy (Donnie) Coats of Houlka, MS, Jerry Cowsert of Pontotoc, MS, Ricky (Cindy) Cowsert of Bruce, MS, and Donald (Becky) Cowsert of Faulkner, MS. Patricia was a proud grandmother to Laura Mae (Brandon), Austin, Addison, Tatum, Tinlee, Anna, Ava, Carter, and Kinnidi, and a cherished great-grandmother to McCarley Cannon and Kayden Winter.
A public viewing to celebrate Patricia's life will be held on December 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Parker Memorial Funeral Home. This will be followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM in Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Wilson officiating. Following the service, Patricia will be laid to rest at Rocky Mount Cemetery in Pittsboro, Mississippi.
Serving as pallbearers are Austin Cannon, Scott Cannon, Josh Hughes, Nick Phillips, B.J. Lenard and Brandon Winter.
As we remember Patricia, let us reflect on a life beautifully lived, dedicated to family, faith, and the joys of simple moments. Her legacy of love will remain with all those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
