Patricia A. Kuhn, of Fairhope, AL, age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will live on through her family and everyone she impacted with kindness and love. She was born in 1940 in Pittsburg, PA. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Hilary "Larry" Kuhn, creating a nurturing home and a close-knit family with their daughter, Karen Maumenee. Patricia had always hoped for a large family of her own, and although she was only able to have one child, she was the oldest of 6 and blessed with 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, for whom she created a safe and fun space.
A devoted mother to her daughter, Patricia cherished the joys of family and had a special love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who referred to her as "Gee-Gee". Patricia was, in many ways, the matriarch of our family. She had a beautiful singing voice and was known for her sweet nature and unwavering faith. With a quick wit and a great sense of humor, she was always ready with a joke. She was also a woman of conviction, never hesitating to share her thoughts candidly.
Patricia enjoyed working and taking care of others, as she wore many hats: wife, mother, grandmother, breast cancer survivor, journalist, server, an instructor at a technical college, and so much more. She also enjoyed volunteering in the nursery at her local church, supporting the Boy Scouts of America, being actively involved in all her family's activities, and always lending a hand to a neighbor in need.
Her warmth, honesty, and generous spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. As we honor Patricia's life, we remember a woman who thrived on connection and kindness and found joy in nurturing her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hilary "Larry" Kuhn, as well as her parents, Jean and Andrew LaBarbera, and her sister, JoAnn McClean. She is survived and fondly remembered by her daughter Karen and son-in-law, Trip Maumenee of Fairhope, AL, along with her grandchildren, Michelle and Jason Black, Jennifer and Chad Hinders, and Caleb Maumenee. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Nicolas (24), Jacob (19), Caiden (15), Brody (13), Madison (12), and Briella (7). She is also survived by her siblings, Salvatore LaBarbera, Andrew LaBarbera, James LaBarbera, and John LaBarbera.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following organizations in Patricia's name: Alzheimer's Association | Donate to Fight Alzheimer's Disease or Ways to Give: How to Donate – St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org)
