Patricia Carol Mayerhofer (Lusk), born in Lorado, West Virginia, on November 24, 1944, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 31st, 2023, at the age of 78.
Patricia had lived a life full of love, laughter, and happiness alongside her husband of 54 years, George E. Mayerhofer. They were married on December 10th, 1969, in Cook County, IL and renewed their vows in their most beloved vacation destination, Black Hills, SD in 2000. Together, they purchased their home in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, where they raised their three children. Patricia was admired by many for her dedicated work ethic, her perseverance, and her fierce love for others, which she continued to value throughout her battle with cancer. She was a proud southern woman, and continuously lived her life with a strong mind and gentle heart.
Patricia was a dedicated mother and grandmother to her three children, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Patricia was full of life and enjoyed, being a caretaker, spending time with her beloved cousins, who she referred to as her sisters, traveling the ocean on cruises. Patricia was the first person during the holidays to welcome you with enough home-made sweets to last you through the season. She was always adamant about making home-made meals for her loved ones; if you ask any of her family, a guaranteed fight on any holiday evening would be who was able to take home the leftover sweet corn (thankfully, there was never any leftovers). Patricia and her husband continued to thrive in their marriage and spent many weekends getting away to enjoy one another's company over a nice meal on the Mississippi River. It brought her immense joy to watch her family grow over the years. She was her children and grandchildren's biggest supporter through major milestones in their lives, such as welcoming their own children and graduating colleges. No matter how busy Patricia seemed to be, she always had time for two things: her family and keeping her house clean.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Spicey and Noah Lusk; sister, Wilma; brother; Harold; grandson, Travis.
Patricia is survived by her doting husband, George E. Mayerhofer; her three wonderful children, Greg, Kimberly, and George (Trina); grandchildren Natasha, Tatiana, Tanner, Hunter, Ranger, David, Haley (Gavynn), and Corrigan.; great grandchildren, Ashton, William, Oliver, and Ashlynn; sister, Wanda; brother, Larry; and many other cherished family members and friends.
The family will be forever grateful for Patricia's dedicated oncology team, the Monroe Hospital's attentive nurses and doctors, and the wonderful staff at the Monroe Hospice Home for always making Patricia feel safe and cared for. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of gifts, memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
