Patricia Stoves McDowell, a beloved member of the community, passed away July 15, 2023 at the age of 67. Born on January 22, 1956, Pat led a remarkable life filled with love, compassion, and dedication.

Pat began her career at Hammermill Timberlands, then International Paper Riverdale Mill, where she served as an accountant for over 30 years. Her commitment and expertise made her an invaluable asset to the company. Pat's hard work and dedication were evident in every task she undertook.

Outside of her professional life, Pat was a loving and devoted family woman. She found immense joy in spending time with her granddaughter, Ansleigh. Their bond was truly special and brought immense happiness to both of their lives. Pat's nurturing nature extended beyond her immediate family - she was always there for anyone who needed her help or support.

Educated at the University of Montevallo with a bachelor's degree in business, Pat later traveled to Tennessee to receive a certificate as a Master Gardner. This reflected her deep passion for nature and all things green. Whether it was tending to her beautiful garden or sharing her knowledge with others, Pat found solace and fulfillment in cultivating life.

In addition to her green thumb, Pat had an assortment of hobbies and interests that showcased her diverse personality. She found great pleasure in reading books that transported her to different worlds, nurturing her vivid imagination. Woodworking allowed her to express her creativity while also creating practical items for herself and loved ones.

A cherished hobby of Pat's was shooting guns.  It provided her with an opportunity to challenge herself mentally and physically while honing valuable skills.

Pat will be remembered for many qualities but none more so than her independent spirit and heart of gold. Her strong-willed personality allowed her to take charge in any situation with confidence and competence. However, underneath that formidable exterior lay a compassionate and caring soul. Pat would go to great lengths to help anyone in need, leaving an indelible impact on their lives.

One of Pat's proudest accomplishments was assuming the role of the "family hostess," ensuring that her loved ones always felt welcome and cherished during holiday gatherings. Her warm hospitality created lasting memories for all who had the pleasure of sharing those special moments with her.

Pat was preceded in death by her  parents, George Abbett Stoves and Dorothy Friday Stoves, her loving husband, Richard A. McDowell, and her son, Danial Ryan McDowell. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be treasured. Pat is survived by her daughter, Hannah (Levi) Tapscott; granddaughter, Ansleigh Tapscott; sister, Marge (Bruce) Till; niece, Lara Till; uncle, Charles (Carol) Friday, many cousins; and a special friend, Dana Brech.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Plantersville Christian Cemetery with Mac Martin officiating. The family will recieve friends at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home from 9:00 -11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
