Patricia "Pat" Rae Garside McKenna passed away on November 29, 2022. She was born June 9, 1942, in Salt Lake City to Eldred Lewellyn and Lorraine Bost Garside. She married Donald Leslie McKenna on March 17, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on September 17, 1976. Together, they celebrated 60 years of marriage, 4 children, 12 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
Patricia was known to most as Pat. She was very involved in her church and served in various primary callings during her young married life. She enjoyed serving in the primary presidency with one of her lifelong friends and her time spent as an instructor in Relief Society. Her most challenging but rewarding calling was when she served as the Relief Society president. She also served as a teacher and was heavily involved in Cub Scouts with her two sons. Of all her callings and titles, Mom was her favorite.
Throughout her life she had many opportunities to express her creative side. She was a painter and loved using all kinds of different media, but really excelled in painting ceramics. She would often give hand painted Christmas ornaments to friends as gifts or as part of ornament exchanges. Pat was a writer and all around a brilliant creative mind. She was asked three times to write and direct "Road Show" productions for the youth, writing two of them entirely in rhyme.
Thanks for all you did for us Mom, rest in peace.
She is survived by her husband Donald, children Andrew, Dawna and Tim, 12 grandkids and 1 great-grandkid. She was preceded in death by her son David Donald McKenna, parents Eldred and Lorraine, brothers Roger Van Rossendaal and Larry Barnson and a grandson Brandon McKenna.
Funeral services for Pat will be Saturday December 3, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Santaquin East Bench Chapel, 250 South 580 East. Friends may greet family from 12:00 – 12:45 at the church prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
