Patricia Agnes McSweeney 93, of Norwich, CT passed away peacefully at the William W. Backus Hospital on December 27, 2025 after an unexpected health issue.
A lifelong Norwich resident, Pat was born on March 5, 1932 in Norwich to the late Francis G. and Agnes (Cronin) McSweeney. She was predeceased by her wonderful sisters Kathleen McSweeney DeGray (Richard) and Shelia McSweeney (Donald).
Pat graduated from Norwich Free Academy Class of 1950 where she lettered, received her blazer and title of Class Athlete. There she met and stayed lifelong friends with lrene Galipeau for 77 years. After graduating she worked at New London County Mutual lnsurance Company until her retirement.
Pat attended many classes at Norwich Adult Education and classes at Three Rivers Community College. She was an avid reader especially interested in History. She loved sports, the New York Giants being her favorite football team, and enjoyed skiing, skating, swimming, walking and tennis. Pat and lrene went on many bus trips, cruises and day trip adventures to Cape Cod.
Pat is survived by her best friend lrene Galipeau who cared for her the last 3 years of her life, her extended family Richard (Chuck) and Barbara Galipeau Lowden, Paul and Mada Galipeau, Erik and Elizabeth Lowden Trotter, Greg and Christina Galipeau Kieslich and special friends Norman and Betty Cooper. Several extended Great Nieces and two Nephews called her Auntie Pat.
Pat will be remembered as a kind, generous and good person who lived a happy and full life!
Funeral and burial will be private. Arrangements by Godere Guillot Funeral Home Taftville.
