Obituary published on Legacy.com by Millennium Cremation Service - Vero Beach on Jan. 1, 2026.
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Arthur Patrick "Pat" McSweeney Jr., who died on November 18, 2025, with his family by his side in Vero Beach, Florida.

Pat was born on December 22, 1946, in Flushing, New York to his parents, Arthur and Irene. After graduating from Copiague High School, he went on to attend C.W. Post College at Long Island University, where he studied French. He achieved his private pilot's license at the age of 16 and was a flight instructor at Zahn's Airport in Amityville, NY where he met his wife, Barbara. He later pursued a career in aviation and achieved his captains rating. He flew the De Havilland Dash 8 & the Twin Otter. He flew for Eastern Metro, Air New England, and Altair Airlines.

During his tenure in aviation education, Pat worked for Flight Safety International in Atlanta, GA and Vero Beach, FL. Pat was an entrepreneur, founding several businesses, including Atlantic Express Airlines out of Farmingdale, New York; Air Safety International in Vero Beach, Florida, Gilbert, Arizona, and Deland, Florida; and the Marine Gallery Boat Sales in Lindenhurst, NY and Fort Pierce, Florida. Towards the end of his professional career, Pat returned to the classroom to teach Middle School and High School French in Scottsdale, AZ, St. Lucie, and Martin County, FL Schools.

Pat was an avid sailor and loved boating as well as aviation. He spent many years on the Great South Bay in Long Island, NY and the Indian River in Florida. He enjoyed cooking with his family, playing with his dog Bubba, telling "dad jokes" and sharing career stories with his children. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Barbara McSweeney; their daughter, Lindsey McSweeney Livingston (Brian) of Blairsville, Georgia; and their sons, Ryan McSweeney (Tina) of Tampa, Florida, and Christopher McSweeney (Samantha) of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his five grandchildren who he loved so very much: Leila Livingston, Sawyer McSweeney, Lincoln McSweeney, Eleanor McSweeney, and Stella McSweeney.
