Patricia J. “Pat” Ladjevich-Merritt, 75, of West Middlesex, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, January 10, 2026, in her home.
Mrs. Merritt was born June 14, 1950, in Sharon, a daughter of Frank and Mae (Hoffman) Haniak. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Farrell High School in 1968.
A homemaker for many years, Pat later worked as a billing supervisor at Lincare Medical Supply in Sharon.
Known for her generosity and kindness, Pat was very spiritual and had a deep faith. A devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother, she had a unique ability to constantly put others’ needs before her own. Pat’s greatest joy in life was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Her house was known as the “happy place,” and she always looked forward to hosting during the holidays or any special occasion.
Her husband William “Duke” Merritt, whom she married in 1984, preceded her in death in 2012. Pat was also preceded in death by her first husband, Richard D. Ladjevich, in 1981.
Pat is survived by a daughter, Tammi Day (Jim), Sharon; a son, Rick Ladjevich (Kim), West Middlesex; a brother, Jerry Haniak (Marilyn), Tampa, FL; two step-sons, Billy Merritt (Lindsay) and Chris Merritt (Kelly), all of Virginia; four grandchildren, Julia and Jena Day, and Rick and Ryan Ladjevich; six step-grandchildren; two nieces, Lori and Suzie; and two cousins, Pam and Jamie.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday (1-15-26) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McGonigleFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.
A Celebration of Pat’s Life will immediately follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
Interment: Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex.
