Patricia Mitchum Obituary

Patricia Lee "Teka" Mitchum, a beacon of love and selflessness, departed from this world on September 24, 2025, at the age of 95, in Matthews, NC. Born on September 1, 1930, in Monroe, NC, Teka was the cherished child of the late Eugene Ashcraft Lee and Patricia Hood Lee. Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith and the love she had for her family and friends.

Teka's educational journey was marked by her nurturing spirit, which led her to attend Coker College before receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mercy Nursing School. Her compassion and dedication to others shone brightly throughout her career as a nurse, where she worked alongside Dr. F.B. Lee in Monroe for many years, providing comfort and care to countless individuals. Teka also held a North Carolina Real Estate License.

Teka's devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Cecil Mitchum, and together they left a legacy of love and guidance. Their children, Sam Mitchum and his wife Pam, and Patricia "Sissy" Mattox and her husband Jim, were the pride of Teka's life. She instilled in them the values of faith, compassion, and the importance of family. Teka's blessings multiplied with her adored grandchildren, Chris Mattox, Lauren Reeder, Molly Allred, Mark Mitchum, Kim Hattemer, and by her beloved ten great-grandchildren that she had a close relationship with, all who will carry on her legacy of kindness and dedication to others.

Teka's Christian faith was the guiding light throughout her life. She was a devoted servant of the Lord, previously a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Monroe, NC, and later a faithful member of Calvary Church in Charlotte, NC. Her spiritual life was rich and active, and she served as a prayer warrior and caregiver, always placing the needs of others before her own. Teka's selfless love extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of friends and community members alike.

Her interests painted the picture of a woman who found joy in life's simple pleasures. Teka loved walking, reading, and traveling, embracing every opportunity to experience the beauty of God's creation. She was a constant presence at her grandchildren's ballgames, cheering them on with enthusiasm and pride. Teka never missed a special occasion, always there to celebrate milestones and provide support during times of need.

Teka will be remembered as the embodiment of love, selflessness, and thoughtfulness. Her actions spoke volumes of her character, and those who knew her felt the warmth of her generous spirit. Teka's legacy is one of unwavering faith, boundless love, and a life dedicated to serving others. She was a true servant of the Lord, loved and respected by her children, grandchildren, and their children.

As we bid farewell to Patricia Lee "Teka" Mitchum, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that has undoubtedly been welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her influence will continue to be felt by all who were blessed to know her. Teka's journey on earth has ended, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched.
